Humor, satire

“A nation that knows how to laugh at its failures is unconquerable.”
(Mark Twain)

There are things that simply cannot be explained with a serious face.
For instance, why a slip of paper certifying your permission to receive another slip of paper must first be stamped to confirm that you have the right to sign the first slip of paper.
Or why someone who spends three hours lecturing on the fight against bureaucracy invariably asks you to fill out yet another form.
Sometimes reality is so absurd that a satirist can only sit back and take notes.

Humor is not an escape from reality. It is a way to stop reality from losing its mind entirely.
Ukrainians have known this for a long time.
We laughed when it was terrifying. We joked when we felt like crying. We came up with witticisms where, it seemed, nothing was left except rage.
Laughter restores a person’s sense of superiority over the absurd.

Satira goes even further.
It takes what authority, the system, a fraud, or a self-absorbed fool tries to present as grand—and holds a mirror up to it.
Without makeup.
Without protocol.
Without approval.
And suddenly, it turns out the emperor has long been naked, and his solemn speech bears a striking resemblance to stand-up comedy.

We love humor that makes people laugh.
And especially the kind that leaves you feeling a little uncomfortable afterward.
A good joke can accomplish what ten pages of analytics sometimes fail to do.
It can highlight the obvious.
Ask an awkward question.
Shatter empty pathos.
Restore common sense.
And sometimes, simply save a person from the urge to throw their monitor through a wall after reading yet another “critically important” news update.

Here, we will gather the funny, the absurd, the ironic, and the satirical.
Folk humor and modern memes.
Witty remarks and paradoxes.
Stories where life itself wrote the script.
Satire on bureaucracy, corruption, political theater, societal stereotypes, and our daily talent for solemnly overcomplicating simple things.

Yet, there is a boundary.
We do not laugh at another’s pain.
We do not turn humor into a weapon against the vulnerable. We do not humiliate anyone for the sake of likes. We do not confuse wit with rudeness.
Offending someone is easy.
Making people laugh intelligently is an art.

Therefore, almost everything is allowed here.
Except boredom.
And common sense.
Though we might test that from time to time as well.

Laugh.
Sometimes, it is the shortest path to the truth.

It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching can help.
